After about seven minutes of autonomous entry, descent and landing, Perseverance touched down in Jezero Crater.
The spacecraft entered the atmosphere at about 19,500 km/h, deployed a 21.5 m parachute and used Terrain-Relative Navigation to choose a safe landing point [3].
The descent stage lowered the 1,026 kg rover on cables in a sky-crane manoeuvre; touchdown was confirmed at JPL at 3:55 p.m. EST [3, 4].
