The observatory leaves the payload bay
Using the RMS arm, the crew lifted Hubble from the payload bay and released it into its own orbit.
The telescope was deployed at about 380 statute miles; its solar arrays and antennas were extended first.
Later optical problems became clear only after first light and were addressed by servicing missions.
