Splashdown

All three astronauts splashed down safely in the South Pacific Ocean on 17 April 1970, nearly six days after launch, and were recovered by the USS Iwo Jima.

The mission was later described as a "successful failure" for the depth of what NASA learned about crew survival and spacecraft engineering - lessons that shaped every crewed mission that followed.
