Project Gemini

Project Gemini (1965–1966) bridged Mercury and Apollo — ten crewed flights that trained orbital docking, spacewalks, and long-duration crew survival in space.

roject Gemini was created because Project Mercury alone would not give NASA the skills needed for a Moon flight. Ten two-person flights rehearsed exactly what Apollo would later need: docking spacecraft, spacewalks, and long stays in space.
