NASA Welcomes Türkiye as 71st Artemis Accords Signatory

Türkiye formally joined the Artemis Accords at a Washington ceremony, becoming the newest member of the growing coalition committed to peaceful, transparent space exploration.

NASA announced that the Republic of Türkiye has signed the Artemis Accords, becoming the 71st country to join the U.S.-led framework of principles for responsible space exploration. The signing took place during a ceremony at NASA headquarters in Washington, led by agency Administrator Jared Isaacman.

According to NASA, Isaacman welcomed Türkiye into the coalition of nations that share a commitment to safe, sustainable and transparent exploration of the Moon, Mars and beyond. The Accords lay out non-binding norms covering topics such as interoperability, emergency assistance, registration of space objects, and responsible use of space resources.

Türkiye's accession continues a steady expansion of the agreement since it was first established in 2020, reflecting NASA's push to build broad international backing for the Artemis program and future deep-space missions.

NASA did not detail specific joint projects planned with Türkiye at this stage, framing the signing primarily as a diplomatic and policy milestone rather than an operational one.
