NASA to Broadcast Progress 96 Cargo Launch and ISS Docking

A Roscosmos Progress cargo ship loaded with roughly three tons of supplies heads to the International Space Station next week, with NASA carrying the launch and docking live.

NASA announced it will livestream the launch and docking of the uncrewed Progress 96 resupply spacecraft, operated by Russia's space agency Roscosmos. The vehicle is packed with about three tons of food, fuel and other supplies for the crew currently living aboard the International Space Station.

Liftoff from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan is set for Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 12:15 p.m. EDT (9:15 p.m. local Baikonur time). After launch, the spacecraft will make its way toward the station for an automated docking, keeping the orbiting outpost stocked with essential cargo.

Progress vehicles are a routine but critical part of keeping the ISS crew supplied, flying regularly alongside crewed and other cargo missions from international partners.
