SpaceX has called off a launch attempt for 21 data relay satellites built for the U.S. Space Development Agency (SDA), Spaceflight Now reports. The next opportunity from Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California is no earlier than Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 1:17 a.m. PDT (4:17 a.m. EDT, 08:17 UTC).

The mission, named Tranche 1 Transport Layer A, will be the fourth launch supporting SDA's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture. This is a large constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit that is being built to support the U.S. military.

Transport Layer spacecraft form the communications backbone of the architecture. They are designed to pass data between satellites and to forces on the ground over optical and radio links.
