NASA has selected SpaceX to launch its StarBurst mission, a small satellite built to study neutron star mergers and trace the origins of short gamma-ray bursts, according to a NASA announcement.

The spacecraft will ride along on a Falcon 9 rocket as part of a Bandwagon rideshare flight, lifting off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

By observing these violent cosmic collisions, StarBurst aims to give scientists better insight into how some of the universe's most energetic explosions form and evolve.
