NASA's long-running Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) series chose a scene called "Jupiter and the Moons" for 12 October 2026. The image shows the gas giant Jupiter together with moons in the same view.

APOD posts one astronomy image or photograph each day. A professional astronomer writes a short explanation for each one, and NASA keeps every past entry in a public archive.

Jupiter is one of the brightest objects in the night sky, and many amateur and professional astronomers photograph it. Its four large Galilean moons can be seen even through small telescopes. The full image and its explanation are on NASA's science website.
